Hans Bergström floor lamps
This very rare pair of floor lamps, designed by Hans Bergström and produced by ASEA in Sweden during the 1950s, exemplifies the refined elegance of Scandinavian modern lighting. The lamps feature a delicate yet sculptural construction composed of three slender brass rods that converge gracefully at both the top and the base, creating a visually light and dynamic structure.
A distinctive clover-shaped brass base grounds each lamp, adding an organic, fluid element that contrasts beautifully with the linear rods. The brass has developed a natural patina, reflecting the lamps’ age and authentic vintage character. Each lamp is topped with a newly fabricated pleated shade in a classic off-white color, carefully selected to honor the original design intent and preserve the piece’s timeless appeal.
Hans Bergström was a prominent figure in Swedish lighting design, known for seamlessly combining modernist principles with practical craftsmanship. ASEA, a leading Swedish lighting manufacturer, was instrumental in producing and distributing his work. These lamps represent a rare and collectible example of Bergström’s ability to fuse organic form with minimalist refinement, capturing the essence of mid-century Scandinavian lighting design.
The lamps measure 51 cm in diameter and 159 cm in height (20 x 62.6 inches).
