Arne Jacobsen coffee table
This is a rare and generously sized coffee table designed by Arne Jacobsen and produced by Fritz Hansen in Denmark during the 1960s. The table features an elegant, organically shaped top executed in rosewood veneer with a strikingly figured grain pattern, displaying beautiful symmetry and depth of color. The choice of rosewood highlights the luxurious yet understated approach of Scandinavian modern design of the period.
The table top rests on a brushed aluminium pedestal base with a six-point star configuration, offering both stability and a visually light appearance. The combination of rich, warm rosewood and cool, industrial aluminium is characteristic of Jacobsen’s ability to balance natural materials with modern technology, resulting in a piece that is both functional and sculptural.
This example is in good vintage condition and has been restored to preserve the beauty of the rosewood surface, which shows a soft sheen and a well-defined grain. Minor traces of use and age are visible on the base, consistent with the piece’s history, adding to its authenticity and charm.
Dimensions are 150 cm wide, 100 cm deep, and 45 cm high (59.1 x 39.4 x 17.7 inches).
