Information

This rare easy chair, model 451, was designed by Illum Wikkelsø and produced by Aarhus Polstrermøbelfabrik in Denmark in 1958. The chair exemplifies mid-century Danish design with its refined craftsmanship and elegant, sculptural frame. The construction is executed in rosewood, displaying rich grain patterns and a warm, deep tone. The angular backrest supports and tapered legs enhance the chair’s architectural presence, giving it a distinctive silhouette.

The seat and backrest are upholstered in original red leather, which has developed a natural patina over time, adding character to the piece. The seat leather has been newly replaced, ensuring comfort and longevity while maintaining the chair’s authentic appearance. The overall condition is good vintage, with visible signs of use consistent with age.

This design is a classic example of Scandinavian modernism, combining functionality, high-quality materials, and an emphasis on form. Its proportions and slightly reclined profile make it an inviting lounge chair suitable for a variety of interior settings.

Dimensions: width 78 cm (30.7″), depth 70 cm (27.6″), height 77 cm (30.3″), seat height 39 cm (15.4″).
