Information

This extendable dining table, model AT-312, was designed by Hans J. Wegner and produced by Andreas Tuck in Denmark during the 1950s. The table features a rectangular top made from teak veneer, showcasing a warm reddish-brown tone with a well-articulated grain that emphasizes the natural beauty of the wood. It is supported by four solid oak legs, which taper slightly and are inset from the corners, giving the table a visually light and balanced stance. The combination of teak and oak is a characteristic feature of Wegner’s design philosophy, reflecting his preference for contrasting materials and compositional restraint.

The model AT-312 includes two pull-out extension leaves, one at each end of the table. When fully extended, the table expands from 160 cm to 280 cm in length, offering ample space for larger gatherings. The extensions operate with a smooth glide mechanism and can be discreetly stored beneath the tabletop when not in use. The apron and subframe of the table are gently curved and subtly sculpted, demonstrating the high level of craftsmanship characteristic of both Andreas Tuck’s production and Wegner’s structural elegance.

Hans J. Wegner (1914–2007) was a leading figure in Danish modernism, known for his designs rooted in traditional joinery, ergonomic principles, and minimalist aesthetics. The AT-312 is a prime example of Wegner’s architectural approach to furniture design, where every element is considered both for its functional purpose and its formal beauty.

Andreas Tuck, a Danish furniture manufacturer active throughout the mid-20th century, was renowned for its high-quality carpentry and was one of Wegner’s most important early collaborators. Many of Wegner’s iconic tables, including the AT-312, were developed through Tuck’s workshop, making them quintessential examples of Danish craftsmanship from the postwar era.

The table is in good vintage condition, with signs of use consistent with age. The surfaces have been lightly restored to preserve the integrity of the original finish while enhancing its overall appearance. Minor wear and patina are visible, adding to the depth and authenticity of the piece.

The dimensions of the table are 160 cm in length (extending to 280 cm), 100 cm in width, and 71.5 cm in height. In imperial units, this translates to approximately 63 inches long (extending to 110.2 inches), 39.4 inches wide, and 28.1 inches high.
