Ceiling lamp
This rare ceiling lamp, produced in the 1930s by Fåglaviks Glasbruk in Sweden, represents a refined example of early 20th-century Swedish glasswork, combining functional lighting with sculptural elegance. While the designer remains unidentified, the lamp clearly reflects the stylistic tendencies of the period, particularly the influence of Art Deco, with its emphasis on geometric form, layered profiles, and harmonious symmetry.
The body of the lamp is crafted from amber-colored glass, a material and tone that was popular during the interwar period for its warm, atmospheric lighting properties. The glass has a subtle translucence that diffuses the light evenly, producing a golden glow that enhances the ambiance of the room. The central structure features softly tiered and rounded forms, suggesting a stylized, architectural influence while maintaining an organic fluidity in its contours.
The fixture is equipped with four E27 sockets, providing a generous and even distribution of light. This multi-source configuration not only supports functional illumination but also contributes to the lamp’s visual balance. The glass elements are suspended from a central support structure, likely in metal, designed to maintain stability while allowing the lamp to act as a prominent decorative feature in an interior.
Fåglaviks Glasbruk, established in the late 19th century, was one of Sweden’s respected glass manufacturers known for both utilitarian and decorative glass objects. The company’s production during the 1930s included a variety of lighting designs, often characterized by molded or blown glass forms with elegant tonal finishes and refined proportions. This lamp fits within that tradition, showcasing the technical and aesthetic quality that defined the glassworks of that era.
Despite its age, the lamp remains in very good condition, with only minor signs of use such as slight surface wear or subtle glass imperfections consistent with vintage production methods. These do not detract from the overall appearance or structural integrity.
The lamp measures 40 cm in diameter and 70 cm in height, equivalent to approximately 15.7 inches in diameter and 27.6 inches in height.
