Jo Hammerborg attrib. floor lamp
This rare tripod floor lamp, attributed to Jo Hammerborg and produced in Denmark during the 1960s, exemplifies Scandinavian mid-century lighting design with a focus on minimalist elegance and material contrast. The lamp features a slender, tapered central column crafted from rosewood, complemented by steel details that enhance both its structure and aesthetic appeal. The base consists of three gracefully curved steel legs, each finished with rosewood-capped feet, combining stability with a refined, airy presence.
The proportions and choice of materials reflect Hammerborg’s signature style, emphasizing clean geometric lines and the harmonious pairing of natural wood and metal. As head of design at Fog & Mørup, Hammerborg was influential in creating modern lighting pieces that were both functional and sculptural.
Please note, this lamp is sold without a lampshade.
The lamp measures 43 cm (16.9 inches) in diameter at the base and stands 146 cm (57.5 inches) tall. It is in good vintage condition, showing minor wear consistent with its age.
