Fog & Mørup floor lamp

This is a rare height-adjustable floor lamp or uplight, produced by the renowned Danish lighting manufacturer Fog & Mørup during the 1940s. Executed entirely in patinated brass, the lamp exemplifies early Scandinavian modernist design, combining sculptural form with utilitarian function.

The design features a slender cylindrical shaft that terminates in a circular brass base, which has a low profile to ensure stability while maintaining a discreet footprint. The shaft supports a wide, trumpet-shaped uplight reflector that flares outward with a gentle curve. The upper element is proportioned to distribute indirect light upward toward the ceiling, creating a diffuse and atmospheric illumination ideal for ambient lighting.

The surface of the brass has developed a uniform and rich patina, typical of untreated or lightly lacquered finishes from this era. The warm, brownish hue of the metal emphasizes the vintage character of the lamp and complements its minimal detailing. The height adjustment feature is integrated via a telescoping sleeve located near the upper third of the shaft, allowing the user to adjust the lamp’s height between 140 cm and 210 cm (approximately 55.1 to 82.7 inches).
