Vase

This glass vase was produced by Glas & Trä Hovmantorp in Sweden during the 1950s. It is made from hand-blown glass in a warm amber tone, a colour frequently associated with Scandinavian mid-century decorative glass. The cylindrical body rises in a straight vertical form, meeting a gently flared neck that softens the transition between the vessel and the opening. The glass shows small air bubbles and subtle irregularities, characteristic of traditional hand-blowing techniques.

The surface maintains a translucent depth, allowing light to pass through the amber glass and enhancing the richness of the colour. The proportions are tall and narrow, giving the vase a refined presence suitable for single stems or as a sculptural standalone object. The original Hovmantorp label is preserved on the lower portion of the vase, identifying its maker and origin.

Glas & Trä Hovmantorp was part of the mid-century Swedish glass industry, known for producing both functional and decorative glassware. The workshop often combined simple geometric forms with expressive colours, contributing to the broader Scandinavian aesthetic of material clarity and understated design.

The vase is in good vintage condition with small signs of usage consistent with age. Minor surface wear is present but does not detract from the clarity or colour of the glass.
