Information

This rare set of six dining chairs, model 462, was designed by Danish architect and designer Arne Vodder and produced by Sibast Møbelfabrik in Denmark in 1961. Vodder, one of the leading figures of Danish modernism and a student of Finn Juhl, is known for his elegant, functional designs that combine sculptural lines with exceptional craftsmanship. These chairs reflect his refined aesthetic and attention to detail.

The frames are crafted in richly grained rosewood, showcasing the natural beauty and depth of the wood. The organic silhouette of the backrest and the gently tapered legs are characteristic of Vodder’s approach to furniture design, where form and function are seamlessly integrated. The chairs have been reupholstered in a vibrant yellow wool fabric, adding a striking contrast to the dark wood and emphasizing their mid-century character.

The construction is both light and sturdy, with ergonomically curved backrests and subtly angled legs that contribute to their comfort and stability. Their elegant proportions and sculptural form make them an ideal example of Scandinavian modern design, where simplicity, quality materials, and craftsmanship converge.

These chairs are in good vintage condition with minor signs of age and use, consistent with their provenance. They stand as a testament to the timeless appeal of Danish mid-century furniture design and remain highly collectible pieces for both private interiors and curated collections.

Dimensions are 56 cm wide, 54 cm deep, and 80 cm high (22 x 21.3 x 31.5 in), with a seat height of 44 cm (17.3 in)
