Information

This circular wall mirror was produced by GAB (Guldsmedsaktiebolaget) in Sweden during the 1930s and exemplifies Art Deco design in cast bronze. The solid bronze frame exhibits a naturally aged greenish-brown patina that adds depth and historic character to the piece. At the top of the frame, a sculptural bronze relief depicts a stylized antelope or gazelle in mid-stride, poised atop a gently sloping landscape. The clean lines and dynamic pose of the animal motif reflect the streamlined elegance characteristic of the Art Deco movement.

The frame’s thin, even bronze border maintains a restrained and symmetrical profile, allowing the detailed figural element to command attention without overpowering the composition. The patina is consistent throughout, with minor oxidation and surface variations typical of bronze from this period. The reverse side bears the maker’s mark from GAB, a prominent Swedish metalware manufacturer known for high-quality bronze and silverwork during the early to mid-20th century. Additional stamped markings include a model number and bronze designation, confirming the piece’s authenticity.

The mirror is in good condition, with the surface patina left intact to preserve its historical integrity. The mirror glass remains clean and free from damage.

Dimensions measure 44.5 cm wide, 5 cm deep, and 50 cm high, approximately 17.5 x 2 x 19.7 inches.
