Mirror
This is a rare model Orion K18 mirror produced by AB Nybrofabriken Fröseke in Sweden during the 1960s. The design reflects mid-century Scandinavian decorative arts with its combination of functional simplicity and ornamental brass detailing.
The mirror features a vertically oriented rectangular shape housed within a slim brass frame. The most distinctive feature is the series of oval cut-outs along the top and bottom sections of the frame. These openings are arranged in a regular rhythm and lend the mirror a subtle architectural character while offering reflective play and light dispersion. The structural brass frame is warm in tone and shows a natural, even patina that speaks to its age. The mirror glass is 5 mm float glass, as noted on the original label, offering clear reflection quality and structural stability.
The construction is precise and minimal, with clean joints and a shallow profile of 2.5 cm, allowing it to sit close to the wall when hung. The condition is excellent, with no chips or cracks to the glass and only light surface wear to the brass consistent with age. It retains the original manufacturer’s label on the reverse, confirming its model and specifications.
Fröseke AB Nybrofabriken was a Swedish manufacturer known for producing finely made mirrors and glass decor objects in the postwar period. Their products were often framed in brass and made with float glass, and were marketed under model names such as Orion.
