Bernt Petersen sofa

This rare sofa, designed by Bernt Petersen and produced by Wørts Møbelsnedkeri in Denmark in 1964, is crafted from walnut and features handwoven cane paneling, complemented by its original leather upholstery. The design exemplifies Petersen’s approach to Scandinavian modernism, blending traditional craftsmanship with a refined, minimalist aesthetic.

The solid walnut frame is constructed with clean lines and precise joinery, highlighting the natural warmth and grain of the wood. The backrest and sides are composed of handwoven cane, which offers structural support while imparting a light and airy quality to the overall design. The seat cushions retain their original cognac leather covering, which has developed a rich patina over time, adding depth and character to the piece.
