Boréns table lamp
This is a rare brass table lamp, model 8410, produced by Boréns of Sweden in the 1940s. The lamp is a characteristic example of Swedish mid-century lighting design, with sculptural and functional qualities blended through precision metalworking and balanced proportions.
The lamp is entirely constructed in solid brass with a warm golden patina. It features a round, weighted base, a curved stem with an elongated central collar, and a large asymmetrical lampshade in the shape of a flattened cone. The shade is punctuated with small perforations distributed in a subtle radial pattern, which allows pinpoint light diffusion when the lamp is illuminated, enhancing ambient glow. The arm gently curves upward and supports the shade with an adjustable swivel joint, enabling directional lighting. The switch is mounted on the base in a small ivory-colored plastic toggle, original to the lamp and typical of the period.
Boréns, located in Borås, Sweden, was a highly regarded lighting manufacturer during the mid-20th century. The firm was known for producing refined brass lamps.
The lamp measures 20.5 cm in diameter, 32 cm in depth, and 42 cm in height, equivalent to approximately 8.1 inches wide, 12.6 inches deep, and 16.5 inches tall. It is in excellent vintage condition with intact patina. Minor surface marks are consistent with careful use and the age of the object.
