Börje Johanson bar stools
This elegant pair of bar stools, model Classic, was designed by Börje Johanson and produced by Johanson Design in Markaryd, Sweden, during the 1960s. A quintessential expression of Scandinavian modernism, the stools merge refined materials with functional sophistication and sculptural clarity.
Each stool features a tulip-shaped base and footrest in polished brass, which gives a luxurious, reflective quality that contrasts beautifully with the seat’s rich cognac-brown leather upholstery. The circular seat is deeply tufted at the center, creating both visual softness and inviting comfort. The design’s balanced proportions and clean, continuous lines speak to Johanson’s pursuit of timeless elegance and everyday practicality.
Beyond their visual appeal, these stools are emblematic of Swedish mid-century craftsmanship — robust in construction yet light in appearance. They are ideal for use in both residential and hospitality interiors, adding warmth, sophistication, and a subtle note of glamour.
In excellent vintage condition, with light wear and patina consistent with age.
