Cabinet
This unique Swedish cabinet is an exceptional example of mid-century craftsmanship, made as an apprentice’s examination piece in the 1950s. Executed in richly grained walnut, it combines a strong architectural silhouette with refined detailing, resulting in a highly personal and characterful storage piece that feels both practical and sculptural.
The cabinet stands on an elegant open base with carefully balanced proportions, giving it a light and elevated appearance while still feeling solid and stable. The front features a rhythmic geometric pattern created through inset rectangular panels, adding depth and subtle contrast to the warm walnut tone. A small original brass key and escutcheon provide a refined accent and underline the handmade nature of the piece.
Inside, the cabinet offers a thoughtfully arranged interior with shelving on one side and a set of drawers on the other, making it suitable for a range of uses such as bar storage, office organisation, or display and concealment of smaller objects. The interior is crafted with the same care as the exterior, with smooth surfaces and well-fitted components that reflect the precision expected from an examination work.
The cabinet is in good vintage condition with signs of usage and a naturally developed patina consistent with age. It measures 100 x 45 x 163 cm (39.4 x 17.7 x 64.2 inches).
