Information

The Pedro easy chairs were designed by Carl-Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs and produced by Puunveisto Oy in Finland during the 1950s. These chairs exemplify the Scandinavian modern design ethos through their organic shapes, sculptural elegance, and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.

Each chair’s frame is made from solid birch, a material prized in Finnish furniture design for its strength, durability, and warm natural tone. The legs are sharply tapered and splayed, giving the chairs a dynamic and balanced silhouette while providing structural stability. The armrests flow seamlessly into the gently curved backrest, creating an integrated form that is both ergonomic and visually harmonious. The upholstery has been newly replaced with a beige wool bouclé fabric, chosen for its textured surface and durable softness, which complements the warm hue of the birch frame.

Carl-Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs, a Finnish designer and architect, was renowned for his meticulous attention to detail and innovative furniture designs. His partnership with Puunveisto Oy, a Finnish manufacturer known for finely crafted and sculptural furniture, resulted in pieces that balance refined proportions, comfort, and architectural presence.

These chairs are in excellent condition, featuring freshly reupholstered seats and well-preserved wooden frames. The original structure remains fully intact, maintaining the chairs’ intended ergonomic support and aesthetic appeal.

Each chair measures approximately 73 cm in width, 70 cm in depth, and 84 cm in height (28.7 x 27.6 x 33.1 inches), with a seat height of 40 cm (15.7 inches).
