Carl-Harry Stålhane bowl
This ceramic bowl was designed by Carl-Harry Stålhane for Rörstrand in Sweden during the 1950s. The piece features a refined, shallow form with a softly curved profile and a narrow foot, highlighting Stålhane’s mastery of proportion and balance. Executed in a warm brown glaze with subtle tonal variation and a slightly lighter rim, the surface displays the tactile, earthy character typical of his mid-century stoneware production.
Carl-Harry Stålhane (1920–1990) was one of Sweden’s most important ceramic artists, serving as both designer and artistic director at Rörstrand. Trained under Gunnar Nylund, he developed a distinct personal expression that combined sculptural minimalism with nuanced glaze work. His pieces from this period are recognized for their quiet elegance and timeless quality, bridging traditional craftsmanship with modernist sensibilities.
The bowl remains in good vintage condition, showing small signs of use consistent with age. It represents the understated refinement and technical excellence that characterized Scandinavian ceramics of the era.
