Information

This rare teapot was designed by Carl-Harry Stålhane and produced by Rörstrand in Sweden during the 1960s. Crafted from stoneware, it features a deep matte glaze in dark earthy tones that subtly reveals the textured ceramic surface beneath. The teapot has an organic, rounded form with two opposing spouts—an uncommon design choice that enhances both its sculptural presence and practical functionality. The lid is slightly recessed and topped with a small, angular finial, contributing to the piece’s clean yet expressive profile.

Carl-Harry Stålhane was a prominent Swedish ceramic artist and designer, recognized for his refined forms and innovative glazing techniques. His work significantly influenced mid-century Scandinavian ceramics, particularly through his collaboration with Rörstrand, one of Sweden’s foremost porcelain and stoneware manufacturers. Stålhane’s designs often balance minimalist aesthetics with tactile surface treatments that highlight the natural qualities of the material.

This teapot exemplifies Scandinavian modernism’s integration of form and function. The dual spouts create an asymmetrical visual balance, while the subdued color palette and gentle curves contribute to its enduring elegance. The use of stoneware ensures durability, and the glaze’s nuanced variation underscores the handcrafted nature of the piece.

The teapot is preserved in good vintage condition, displaying minor wear consistent with its age. Its dimensions are 15 cm in width, 11 cm in depth, and 8.5 cm in height (5.9 x 4.3 x 3.3 inches).
