Eje Ahlgren table lamp

The rare table lamp model B-09, designed by Eje Ahlgren and produced by Bergboms in Sweden, is a refined example of Scandinavian mid-century lighting design that balances utility with sculptural elegance. The lamp showcases an expressive interplay of brass and lacquered wood, rendered in a compact, purpose-driven form.

The design is centered around a curved brass arm that arcs outward from a slender, cylindrical body. This arm supports a conical shade made entirely of brass, perforated near the top to provide both heat ventilation and a decorative element. The perforations form a ring of subtle openings that allow light to escape gently upward, producing a soft ambient glow in addition to the focused downward illumination. The brass components have developed a natural patina over time, softening the original golden sheen with warm, aged character.

At the lower section of the lamp, a black lacquered wooden handle is integrated into the design. This element serves both as a tactile grip for adjusting the lamp’s orientation and as a visual anchor that offsets the brightness of the brass.
