Eje Ahlgren table lamp
This table lamp, model B-075, was designed by Eje Ahlgren and produced by Bergboms in Sweden during the 1950s. The lamp is made entirely of brass and demonstrates the refined minimalism characteristic of Scandinavian mid-century lighting design.
The form consists of a hemispherical shade with a distinctive concentric louver diffuser that softens and directs the light evenly. The shade is supported by a slender, vertical brass stem mounted on a circular base of solid brass, giving the lamp both stability and visual balance. A pull-chain switch with a small brass sphere complements the design’s functional simplicity.
The brass surface has developed a warm patina consistent with age, which enhances the lamp’s sculptural presence. The original finish remains intact, showing minor wear and faint surface marks that testify to its vintage authenticity. The design reflects the era’s focus on geometric clarity, material honesty, and atmospheric lighting — qualities that positioned Bergboms among the foremost Swedish lighting manufacturers of the period.
Eje Ahlgren’s designs for Bergboms are celebrated for their restrained elegance and technical precision, combining industrial forms with a sense of warmth through the use of brass.
This example is in good vintage condition with small signs of usage and a uniform aged surface.
