Erik Riisager Hansen dressing table

Information

This rare freestanding dressing table was designed by Erik Riisager Hansen and produced by Haslev Møbelsnedkeri in Denmark during the 1950s. Crafted from teak, the piece showcases the wood’s natural durability and rich grain, with a warm tone that embodies the mid-century Scandinavian aesthetic. The design features clean lines, tapered legs, and a functional layout that balances simplicity with refined detail.

A key feature of the table is the integrated mirror, which folds out smoothly from a concealed compartment within the tabletop. Beneath the mirror, a storage section with dividers allows for organized placement of personal items, demonstrating a practical and elegant mechanism seamlessly incorporated into the overall design. Additionally, a single drawer beneath the tabletop provides further storage without compromising the piece’s streamlined silhouette.

Erik Riisager Hansen was known for his minimalist design approach, prioritizing functionality and fine craftsmanship over ornamentation. This dressing table exemplifies Danish modernist principles through its emphasis on material quality and precise woodworking. Haslev Møbelsnedkeri, a respected Danish manufacturer, was renowned for producing high-quality teak furniture, helping to establish Scandinavian design on the international stage.

The dressing table is in good vintage condition, showing minor wear consistent with age. The teak surface has developed a natural patina that enhances the wood’s depth and character.

Dimensions are 110 cm in width, 65 cm in depth, and 70 cm in height (43.3 x 25.6 x 27.6 inches).
