Frode Holm coffee table

Very rare coffee table designed by Danish designer Frode Holm and produced by Illums Bolighus, Copenhagen, during the 1940s. The table represents an elegant and restrained interpretation of Scandinavian modernism, combining refined proportions with a delicate architectural structure characteristic of early Danish modern furniture design. Its light visual expression and carefully balanced materials exemplify the sophisticated craftsmanship associated with Illums Bolighus during the mid-century period.

The rectangular tabletop is executed in richly figured teak with a deep warm tone and vivid grain patterns flowing across the surface. The thin profile of the top is accentuated by a surrounding brass edge that introduces a subtle contrast and emphasizes the table’s clean linear silhouette. The teak has developed a beautiful depth and warmth over time, highlighting the natural movement and character of the wood.

The base consists of slender brass legs connected by intersecting stretchers forming an elegant X-shaped support beneath the table.
