Halvdan Pettersson bureau
This rare bureau was designed by Halvdan Pettersson and produced by Tibro Möbelfabrik in Sweden during the 1950s. It exemplifies Scandinavian modern furniture through its refined craftsmanship and elegant, restrained design.
The bureau features an oval form topped with mahogany, accentuated by a raised brass rim on one side, adding subtle decorative interest. The body is wrapped in cream-colored artificial leather, detailed with a row of brass nailhead trim that provides a striking contrast. The front includes three drawers, each fitted with brass drop handles that harmonize with the nailhead accents.
Supported by four slender, tapered mahogany legs with brass-capped feet, the bureau presents a light and graceful silhouette. The combination of quality materials and meticulous detailing reflects the Swedish mid-century ethos, where functionality and sophisticated aesthetics merge seamlessly.
The bureau is in condition consistent with its age, showing minor wear that adds to its authenticity and vintage character. Its dimensions are 91 cm in width, 48 cm in depth, and 70.5 cm in height (approximately 35.8 by 18.9 by 27.8 inches).
