Information

This is an extendable dining table, model AT-312, designed by Hans J. Wegner and produced by the Danish cabinetmaker Andreas Tuck in the 1950s. Hans Wegner, a central figure in Danish modern design, is celebrated for his ability to blend functional simplicity with refined craftsmanship. His designs frequently reflect an architectural sensibility, underpinned by a deep understanding of wood and its possibilities as a material.

The table top is crafted from teak, presenting a warm, golden-brown tone with fine horizontal grain patterns that enhance its natural beauty. The frame and legs are made from solid oak, which provides a structural contrast to the teak, featuring a lighter hue with subtle, visible pores. The overall form of the table is defined by its balanced proportions and minimalist silhouette, contributing to a timeless design. The legs are round, slightly tapered, and angled outward, which not only enhances the table’s stability but also adds to its aesthetic clarity.

The table includes two pull-out extension leaves that are integrated into the ends, allowing the table to extend from 160 cm to 280 cm in length. The extension mechanism is smoothly concealed and operates through a sliding track system built into the apron. This feature is discreet yet highly functional, reflecting Wegner’s design philosophy, where practicality is seamlessly incorporated into the aesthetic and form of the piece.

The apron is subtly sculptural, with rounded transitions and beveled edges that highlight the fine craftsmanship of the table. All visible joinery is expertly executed, maintaining seamless precision and contributing to the table’s refined overall appearance. The table’s production by Andreas Tuck, a Danish workshop known for its collaboration with Wegner, further emphasizes the high-quality standards of the piece.

The dimensions of the table are 160 cm in length, extending to 280 cm (63 inches to 110.2 inches), 100 cm in depth (39.4 inches), and 72 cm in height (28.3 inches). The table remains in excellent vintage condition, with only minor signs of wear consistent with age and use. The wood surfaces show a consistent tone and a soft patina that reflects careful maintenance and minimal fading, adding to the piece’s charm and authenticity.
