Information

This very rare dining table was designed by Hans J. Wegner and produced by the Danish cabinetmaker Johannes Hansen during the 1960s. Crafted from Brazilian rosewood, the table features a stunning book-matched veneer on the tabletop, creating a symmetrical grain pattern that highlights the wood’s rich color variations and depth. The finely finished edges exemplify Wegner’s dedication to precise craftsmanship and clean design.

Supporting the tabletop is a robust rosewood base, complemented by steel stretchers that add both structural stability and a visual contrast between natural wood and industrial materials. The table includes a drop-leaf extension system, enabling it to extend from 183 cm to 300 cm in length (72.0 to 118.1 inches), offering flexible seating options for various occasions.

Hans Wegner, a pivotal figure in Danish modernism, is renowned for his seamless blend of form and function, with a strong focus on structural integrity and timeless simplicity. Johannes Hansen, celebrated for producing many of Wegner’s masterpieces, ensured the highest standards of craftsmanship and material quality in this piece.

The table is in well-preserved vintage condition, showing minor wear consistent with its age. Its dimensions are 183 cm in length (extendable to 300 cm), 100 cm in width, and 71 cm in height (72.0 to 118.1 x 39.4 x 28.0 inches).
