Ib Kofod-Larsen sideboard
This very rare sideboard, designed by Ib Kofod-Larsen and produced by Faarup Møbelfabrik in Denmark during the 1950s, is a distinguished example of Scandinavian modern design. Crafted from rosewood, the piece features a striking and expressive wood grain pattern that enhances its visual appeal and adds warmth to its surfaces.
The sideboard is elevated on a subtly raised base, which imparts a sense of lightness and refinement while ensuring solid structural support. Its front is composed of three doors, each equipped with discreet round handles seamlessly integrated into the design, maintaining clean lines and minimal distraction. Centrally positioned, four drawers with matching round wooden pulls offer additional, well-organized storage.
The craftsmanship is evident throughout, with precise joinery and careful grain matching that contribute to the piece’s overall harmony and quality. The sideboard’s balanced proportions and extended length provide generous storage capacity while retaining an elegant and understated profile, typical of Kofod-Larsen’s functional and minimalist approach.
The sideboard is in excellent vintage condition, with a rich patina that highlights the depth and character of the rosewood, underscoring its authenticity and enduring appeal.
