Information

This rare pair of bedside or side tables, model 384, was designed by Kai Kristiansen and produced by Aksel Kjersgaard in Denmark during the 1950s. Exemplifying the refined craftsmanship and minimalist aesthetic of Danish modernism, these pieces are representative of Kristiansen’s ability to merge functionality with sculptural elegance.

Crafted in richly grained rosewood, the tables display a deep, warm tone and a refined surface that highlights the natural beauty of the material. Each table is designed with clean, geometric lines and a balanced silhouette, standing on slender, slightly tapered legs that lend a light and airy presence. The integrated circular drawer pull is a hallmark of Kristiansen’s design language, combining functional simplicity with a subtle graphic detail that enhances the horizontal rhythm of the piece.

Aksel Kjersgaard, known for producing some of the finest mid-century cabinetry in Denmark, collaborated with several of the era’s most significant designers, and this model reflects their shared commitment to precision craftsmanship and timeless quality. The interior construction, with finely dovetailed drawers, demonstrates a level of detail and execution that characterizes the best Scandinavian furniture of the period.

This pair remains in excellent vintage condition with minor signs of age and use, retaining a beautiful original patina that attests to their authenticity and history.

Dimensions are 60 cm wide, 35.5 cm deep, and 52 cm high (23.6 x 14 x 20.5 in)
