Information

This small sideboard, model 42, was designed by Kai Kristiansen and produced by Feldballes Møbelfabrik in Denmark in 1958. The piece represents the refined precision of Danish mid-century cabinetmaking and Kristiansen’s commitment to elegant functionality and proportion.

Executed in richly grained rosewood, the cabinet displays a deep, warm tone and expressive veneer patterning that accentuates the natural rhythm of the material. The craftsmanship is evident in the subtle detailing: integrated handles carved directly into the door fronts, precisely mitered corners, and slender, tapered legs that lift the cabinet with lightness and balance.

Behind the two sliding doors, the interior includes a green felt-lined pull-out drawer and adjustable shelving, offering versatile storage while maintaining a compact footprint. The composition reflects Kristiansen’s architectural sense of clarity, uniting geometric precision with organic warmth.

The model 42 sideboard exemplifies the Scandinavian modern ideal of utility and beauty combined through craftsmanship and honest materials.

The piece remains in good vintage condition with minor signs of use, preserving its original finish and rich patina.

Dimensions: 85.5 × 40 × 76 cm (33.7 × 15.7 × 29.9 inches).
