Information

This rare armchair was designed by Kai Lyngfeldt Larsen and produced by Bovirke in Denmark in 1957. The chair’s frame is made from solid teak, exhibiting refined craftsmanship through its smooth, rounded edges and balanced proportions. The structure features slender legs supported by horizontal bars, ensuring stability while preserving a light, open aesthetic. The gently curved armrests contribute to both the chair’s visual harmony and ergonomic comfort.

The seat and backrest consist of patinated leather in a warm brown hue, suspended within the teak frame to create a floating effect that conforms naturally to the sitter’s body. The leather edges are finely stitched, adding subtle decorative detail and durability. Adjustable leather ties secure the seat, enhancing flexibility and forming a distinctive design feature.

Kai Lyngfeldt Larsen was a prominent figure in Danish modern design, known for emphasizing functional elegance and high-quality natural materials. His furniture designs often blend organic forms with practical construction, reflecting the core values of Scandinavian mid-century craftsmanship. Bovirke, the manufacturer, was recognized for collaborating with leading designers to produce well-crafted Danish modern furniture.

The armchair is in very good condition, with the teak frame retaining its warm color and depth. The leather upholstery shows an even, attractive patina consistent with careful use.
