Kai Lyngfeldt Larsen
Kai Lyngfeldt Larsen (1920–1976) was a Danish architect and furniture designer associated with the development of Scandinavian modern furniture during the mid-20th century. He is best known for his work with manufacturers such as Søborg Møbler and Søren Willadsen Møbelfabrik, where he created furniture defined by precise proportions, functional clarity, and refined craftsmanship.
Biography
Kai Lyngfeldt Larsen trained as an architect in Denmark and became active as a furniture designer during the postwar decades, a period marked by the international rise of Danish modern design. His work focused on practical, well-constructed furniture suited to modern interiors, often executed in high-quality woods such as teak and rosewood.
Larsen’s designs are typically characterized by clean lines, balanced proportions, and restrained detailing, reflecting the functionalist ideals that shaped Scandinavian furniture production during the 1950s and 1960s.
