Information

This rare pair of large glass vases was designed by Kjell Blomberg and produced by Gullaskruf in Sweden in 1963. Crafted from hand-blown glass, the vases feature an opaque black finish that lends them a striking sculptural presence. Each vase presents a rounded, teardrop-shaped body that tapers toward a small asymmetrical spout, creating a fluid, organic silhouette.

The minimalist design exemplifies Blomberg’s approach to Scandinavian modernism, where clean lines and functional forms are elevated through refined craftsmanship. The absence of ornamentation highlights the purity of the shape and the smooth, reflective surface of the glass. The narrow openings are suited for a single stem or small floral arrangements, though the vases hold equal appeal as standalone decorative pieces.

Kjell Blomberg was a Swedish designer noted for his contributions to glassware at Gullaskruf, a prominent Swedish glassworks active from the early 20th century until the 1980s. Gullaskruf gained a reputation for producing high-quality glass objects that blended traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics, making their works highly prized in mid-century Scandinavian design.

Both vases remain in original condition, showing minor wear consistent with their age. They measure 22 cm in diameter and 27.5 cm in height (8.7 by 10.8 inches), representing refined examples of mid-century Swedish glass artistry.
