Information

This rare three-seat sofa was designed by Lennart Bender and produced by Stjernmöbler in Herrljunga, Sweden, during the 1960s. The frame is crafted from solid rosewood with a rich, expressive grain that frames the sofa’s silhouette and adds a sculptural quality to the piece. The design is characterized by its continuous oval base and open frame structure, which supports the generously upholstered cushions.

The sofa is upholstered in its original red-brown leather, which shows a well-preserved patina with natural creasing and subtle surface wear, consistent with careful use over time. The back and arm cushions are tufted, creating a refined, tailored look that balances the robust wooden frame. The seat cushions remain well-stuffed and comfortable, contributing to the inviting character of the sofa while maintaining its clean, modern lines.

Lennart Bender was a Swedish designer celebrated for his sophisticated furniture creations, often pairing sculptural wooden frames with luxurious leather upholstery. His collaboration with Stjernmöbler produced some of the most distinctive mid-century Swedish seating designs, combining comfort, craftsmanship, and a timeless aesthetic.

The sofa measures 210 cm in width, 84 cm in depth, and 68 cm in height (82.7 x 33 x 26.8 inches), with a seat height of 38 cm (15 inches). It is presented in excellent vintage condition, with a consistent patina that highlights the quality of its materials. A matching two-seat sofa is also available, making it possible to assemble a complete lounge group.
