Information

This rare pair of ceramic vases, model Eternell, was designed by Mari Simmulson and produced by Upsala Ekeby in Sweden during the 1970s. The design presents a distinctively modernist and sculptural form, featuring a flared base that tapers toward a rounded top, punctuated by multiple openings for floral arrangements. The surface decoration combines bold horizontal stripes in white and black with vibrant turquoise and earthy orange glazes, accented by speckled details.

Mari Simmulson was a prominent Swedish ceramicist celebrated for her expressive and often playful designs. During her tenure at Upsala Ekeby, one of Sweden’s leading ceramic manufacturers in the mid-century era, she significantly shaped the company’s artistic output. Her work is known for its bold color schemes, geometric patterns, and sculptural forms, making her pieces highly collectible.

The vases are in good vintage condition, showing minor wear consistent with age. The glossy glaze enriches the color depth, and the design’s blend of structured and organic elements exemplifies the aesthetic sensibilities of Scandinavian mid-century ceramics.

Each vase measures 10.5 centimeters in diameter and 20 centimeters in height (4.1 x 7.9 inches).
