Information

This large set of bookcases, designed by Mogens Koch and produced by cabinetmaker Rud Rasmussen in Denmark, embodies the principles of Scandinavian mid-century modernism with a focus on functional modularity, clean lines, and exceptional craftsmanship.

Crafted from Oregon pine, known for its warm golden tone and distinctive grain, the system includes modular open shelving units paired with enclosed cabinet sections featuring panelled doors. The doors are fitted with traditional brass hardware, providing a subtle contrast to the natural wood while enhancing the refined appearance. Precision joinery, including visible dovetail joints, showcases the meticulous craftsmanship that Rud Rasmussen is celebrated for.

Mogens Koch, a renowned Danish architect and designer, created this modular system in 1933 to offer flexible and expandable storage solutions aligned with Danish functionalist design ideals.

Individual open shelving units measure 76 cm in width, 27.5 cm in depth, and 76 cm in height (29.9 x 10.8 x 29.9 inches), while the enclosed cabinets measure 76 cm in width, 36 cm in depth, and 76 cm in height (29.9 x 14.2 x 29.9 inches). The full assembled configuration spans 380 cm in width, 36 cm in depth at the base (27.5 cm at the shelving), and 152 cm in height (149.6 x 14.2 / 10.8 x 59.8 inches).

The set is in condition consistent with its age, exhibiting minor signs of wear while preserving the integrity and beauty of the wood and expert craftsmanship.
