Oscar Nilsson cabinet
Very rare cabinet designed by Oscar Nilsson and produced in Sweden during the 1940s. Executed in solid oak with brass details, the cabinet demonstrates the refined geometric craftsmanship typical of Swedish furniture of the period. The front features intricately paneled doors, each composed of deeply recessed, concentric squares that create a strong architectural rhythm and sense of depth. The symmetrical relief pattern highlights the precision of the joinery and the natural grain variation of the oak.
The cabinet stands on a tall, integrated base with straight legs and a molded apron that balances its sculptural façade with an elegant lightness. Inside, the cabinet is fitted with adjustable oak shelves and three small drawers, combining aesthetic presence with functional versatility.
Oscar Nilsson’s work represents the intersection of traditional cabinetmaking and early modern Scandinavian design, emphasizing structure, proportion, and material integrity. The craftsmanship evident in this piece reflects the Swedish design ideal of the 1940s — honest construction and understated ornamentation rooted in the natural beauty of wood.
