Information

A very rare ceiling lamp model 1995/2 designed by Paavo Tynell and produced by Taito Oy in Finland during the 1950s. This model reflects Tynell’s distinctive ability to combine architectural structure with delicate decorative detailing, resulting in a refined and atmospheric lighting piece.

The fixture is executed entirely in brass, displaying a warm, naturally aged patina that enhances its depth and character. The linear ceiling mount, measuring 55 cm (21.7 inches) in length and 19.5 cm (7.7 inches) in width, is complemented by a sculptural central canopy with clean geometric lines. From this horizontal structure, two pendants are suspended on slender cords, creating a balanced and visually light composition.

Each shade has a diameter of 19.5 cm (7.7 inches) and a height of 28 cm (11 inches), formed in a softly tapering conical shape characteristic of Tynell’s designs. The brass surfaces show subtle variations and markings, contributing to the overall patinated appearance. The lower sections of the shades are decorated with fine perforations arranged in a rhythmic pattern. When illuminated, these perforations emit small points of light, forming a decorative halo effect while the open base provides a warm, directed downward glow.

The total drop height is 98 cm (38.6 inches), giving the lamp an elegant vertical presence while maintaining an airy and unobtrusive feel. The combination of the structured ceiling mount and the freely suspended shades creates a harmonious interplay between rigidity and softness.

The lamp remains in good vintage condition with visible signs of age and use. The brass surfaces exhibit natural wear, patina, and minor irregularities consistent with its period, all of which contribute to its authenticity and aesthetic appeal.
