Pierre Forssell candlesticks

This set of candlesticks was designed by Pierre Forssell and produced by Skultuna in Sweden during the 1950s. They are crafted entirely in solid brass and exhibit a clean, architectural silhouette. Each piece consists of a cylindrical base supporting a slender stem that rises to a distinctively shaped top with a circular cut-out, designed to hold a candle securely. The geometry of the design allows the light from the flame to interact beautifully with the polished brass surface, creating subtle reflections.

The brass surfaces display a warm, naturally aged patina, with small signs of usage that are consistent with their age and add depth and character to the pieces. The simple yet precise proportions highlight Forssell’s focus on functionality combined with sculptural quality, making them equally suitable as everyday objects or as decorative design pieces.

Pierre Forssell (1925–2004) was a renowned Swedish designer and silversmith, known for his work with Skultuna, one of Sweden’s oldest brass foundries, established in 1607. His designs often emphasize minimalism, clarity of form, and honesty in materials, contributing significantly to Scandinavian modern design.
