Poul Henningsen floor lamp
This is a rare and early floor lamp model known as “Water Pump” designed by renowned Danish designer Poul Henningsen. It was produced by Louis Poulsen in Denmark during the 1930s, marking it as a significant piece of Scandinavian design history from the early modernist period.
The lamp is constructed from a combination of materials including brass, copper, painted metal and glass shades. The design features a distinctive elongated arm and tiered glass shades that diffuses light softly and evenly, a hallmark of Poul Henningsen’s lighting philosophy focused on glare-free illumination.
The lamp measures 28 cm in width, 75 cm in depth, and 140 cm in height (approximately 11.0 x 29.5 x 55.1 inches). The metal surfaces exhibit a natural patina consistent with age, enhancing its vintage character. The top glass shade shows a minor nick, but overall the lamp remains in good condition, reflecting careful preservation.
This floor lamp has been rewired with new electrical components to ensure safe and reliable use while maintaining the original aesthetic integrity.
