Severin Hansen bedside table
Rare freestanding bedside or side table designed by Severin Hansen, produced by Haslev Møbelsnedkeri in Denmark during the 1950s. The piece is executed in teak with a lower shelf in woven cane, demonstrating the refined craftsmanship and attention to proportion typical of Hansen’s designs.
The table features Hansen’s signature joinery, where the sharply mitered corners seamlessly integrate the legs and frame in a sculptural, continuous form. The teak surface displays a rich, even grain and warm patina, while the woven cane shelf below provides a delicate textural contrast and functional storage surface.
In excellent vintage condition, the piece has been carefully restored, retaining only minor signs of age and use. Its restrained elegance and precision in detail reflect the Danish modern ideal of form meeting function through honest material expression.
