Severin Hansen bedside tables
These rare freestanding bedside or side tables, designed by Severin Hansen and produced by Haslev Møbelsnedkeri in Denmark during the 1950s, are fine examples of Danish modern craftsmanship. Constructed from solid oak, the tables exhibit sharp, angular joints and clean geometric lines that exemplify the minimalist design ethos of the period. Over time, the oak has developed a rich patina that highlights the natural grain and texture of the wood, enhancing the warmth and character of the pieces.
Each table features a single drawer with a seamlessly integrated front, preserving the sleek, uncluttered aesthetic. Below the tabletop, a woven cane shelf provides additional functional storage space, reflecting mid-century Scandinavian preferences for natural materials and practical design solutions.
Marked with an Illums Bolighus retailer label, these tables carry the provenance of having been sold through Copenhagen’s prestigious design house, known for distributing premium Scandinavian furniture.
The dimensions of each table are 50 cm in width (19.7 inches), 35 cm in depth (13.8 inches), and 50 cm in height (19.7 inches).
