Sven Mejlstrøm wall lamps
These rare wall lamps were designed by Sven Mejlstrøm and produced by Mejlstrøm Belysning in Norway during the 1960s. The lamps are executed in brass with a cylindrical arm and a rectangular wall plate, supporting a hemispherical brass cup and a clear glass globe that encases the light source. The combination of polished brass and glass creates a warm and atmospheric light when illuminated, with the globe softly diffusing the glow.
The brass surfaces have developed a rich patina, showing light speckling and tonal variation that enhance the vintage character of the pieces. The clear glass globes are in very good condition with only minor surface traces, allowing for an unobstructed view of the bulb. The overall condition is very good, with only small signs of usage consistent with careful handling over time.
Sven Mejlstrøm was a Norwegian lighting designer known for his refined, modernist approach to lamp design during the mid-20th century, and Mejlstrøm Belysning was among the notable Scandinavian producers focusing on functional, high-quality lighting. This series of lamps reflects the clean geometry and material honesty characteristic of Scandinavian modernism, emphasizing both utility and visual simplicity.
These lamps are ideal for use in hallways, living rooms, or bedrooms, offering a combination of sculptural presence and functional light. The set includes three matching pieces, allowing for symmetrical arrangements or use throughout a space.
