Information

This is a Swedish mid-century serving trolley produced during the 1960s, exemplifying the Hollywood Regency style within a Scandinavian design context. The trolley features a circular two-tier structure composed of brass, lacquered wood, and glass. The top surface is fitted with a round white glass tray bordered by a brass gallery, while the lower tier consists of a contrasting black glass shelf of equal diameter. Both trays are set within slender brass rings that define the form and provide support.

Three turned and tapered vertical elements in black lacquered wood connect the upper and lower sections, adding visual rhythm and subtle sculptural detailing. The trolley stands on three brass legs, each terminating in a brass caster with a single-wheel design, allowing for full mobility. A curved brass handle with a black lacquered grip completes the composition, echoing the interplay of brass and black found throughout the piece.

The color scheme balances the warm sheen of aged brass with the deep gloss of black lacquer and the creamy translucence of white glass. The overall condition is good vintage, showing minor signs of use and patination consistent with age, particularly on the brass elements which retain a charming natural oxidation.

Although the designer is unknown, the piece reflects stylistic elements typical of Swedish decorative arts in the 1960s, where functionality was blended with a taste for glamour, resulting in refined yet practical domestic objects.
