Vicke Lindstrand vase

This glass vase, titled It Smells Like Fish, was designed by Vicke Lindstrand and produced by Kosta Glasbruk in Sweden during the 1950s. It is crafted from thick, clear glass and features an etched design depicting a stylized cat alongside an abstract fishing net motif. The vase’s slightly asymmetrical, teardrop-shaped form accentuates the fluidity of the engraved decoration, creating a dynamic sense of movement within the piece.

The vase is in well-preserved condition, free from visible cracks or chips. Its surface is smooth and glossy, with the etched details remaining crisp and clearly defined. The original Kosta sticker is still affixed to the base, and the vase is signed “V. Lindstrand Kosta LG 377” confirming its authenticity.

Vicke Lindstrand was a leading figure in Swedish glass design, celebrated for his pioneering use of engraving and his incorporation of playful, organic motifs. His work often combined technical precision with imaginative imagery. Kosta Glasbruk, one of Sweden’s oldest and most respected glass manufacturers, was known for producing high-quality art glass that balanced meticulous craftsmanship with artistic innovation.
