Vicke Lindstrand vases
This pair of sculptural glass vases was designed by Vicke Lindstrand and produced by Kosta Glasbruk in Sweden during the 1960s. Lindstrand, one of Sweden’s most renowned glass artists, is celebrated for his bold yet refined approach to form and color, which helped define Scandinavian glass design in the mid-20th century. His work for Kosta is characterized by its harmonious balance of sculptural shape and subtle tonal transitions, often combining technical mastery with artistic expression.
The vases are crafted using the Sommerso technique, where layers of clear and colored glass are fused to create a sense of depth and fluidity. The inner core features a deep, saturated blue that gradually fades into lighter tones, surrounded by a thick layer of crystal-clear glass that accentuates the organic, elongated oval form. The smooth, tapering profile and precise execution exemplify the high level of craftsmanship for which Kosta was known.
Both pieces are signed “Kosta 01828 VL” on the base, confirming their authenticity. They remain in good vintage condition with minor signs of age and use, consistent with their era.
