Berndt Friberg vase

This rare ceramic vase was designed by Berndt Friberg and produced in 1959 by Gustavsberg in Sweden, reflecting the hallmarks of Friberg’s sophisticated ceramic artistry. The form is carefully proportioned, with a perfectly balanced spherical body transitioning into a slender, slightly flaring neck. This silhouette exemplifies Friberg’s ability to distill complex aesthetic ideas into pure and disciplined shapes that maintain both sculptural presence and functional clarity.

Working almost exclusively for Gustavsberg, Friberg produced individual pieces entirely by hand, often turning and glazing each object himself. His work was admired for its technical precision and quiet elegance, contributing significantly to the international recognition of Scandinavian ceramics.

The vase remains in mint condition, free from cracks, chips, or restoration, and retains its original finish. The Gustavsberg studio stamp is clearly visible on the base, confirming its authenticity and year of production.
