Arne Jacobsen easy chairs

This rare pair of easy chairs, model 3320—commonly known as the Swan chair—was designed by Arne Jacobsen and produced by Fritz Hansen in Denmark. Manufactured in 1971, these chairs embody mid-century Scandinavian design through their iconic curved, organic forms that blend functionality with sculptural elegance.

The chairs feature die-cast aluminum bases in a four-star configuration, allowing for a smooth swivel function. Upholstered in brown leather, the material has developed a rich patina over time, with natural creasing and wear that reflect their age and use. The seat and backrest are seamlessly contoured, with sweeping armrests integrated into the shell, enhancing both the aesthetic fluidity and ergonomic comfort.

Arne Jacobsen, a celebrated Danish architect and designer, originally created the Swan chair in 1958 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. Designed alongside the Egg chair, the Swan represented a modernist vision that pushed boundaries through innovative molded foam technology, enabling its distinctive fluid shape without traditional armrests.
