Information

This rare sideboard, model no. 20, was designed by Niels O. Møller and produced by J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik in Denmark during the 1960s. The piece exemplifies the refined Danish modern aesthetic, combining functional design with exceptional craftsmanship and material quality.

Constructed from richly figured rosewood, the cabinet displays an expressive grain pattern that flows continuously across the sliding doors, emphasizing the natural symmetry and tonal variation of the wood. The surface is finished to a deep, satin sheen that enhances the contrast between the lighter and darker lines of the veneer. The structure rests on four elegantly tapering solid rosewood legs, providing visual lightness and balance to the elongated form.

Behind the two sliding doors are adjustable shelves and pull-out trays, offering flexible storage for tableware or documents. The interior is finished to the same meticulous standard as the exterior, with veneered surfaces and finely detailed joinery. The discreet recessed handles are carved directly into the door fronts, a characteristic detail of Møller’s work, uniting craftsmanship and functionality in a minimal gesture.

The piece bears the original Danish Furnituremakers Control mark, confirming its authenticity and adherence to the highest quality standards of Danish furniture production.

The sideboard is in good vintage condition with small signs of wear and a light patina consistent with age.

Dimensions: width 210 cm (82.7 in), depth 48 cm (18.9 in), height 80 cm (31.5 in).
