Niels O. Møller dining chairs

This set of eight dining chairs, model 71, was designed by Niels O. Møller and produced by J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik in Denmark in 1951. The chairs are crafted from solid rosewood, showcasing the rich, natural grain that highlights the depth and texture of the wood. The organically shaped backrest features a flowing curve that offers ergonomic support, demonstrating Møller’s commitment to comfort and refined form.

The frame construction employs Møller’s signature joinery techniques, ensuring structural strength while maintaining a visually light and elegant profile. The subtly tapered legs contribute to the chairs’ graceful aesthetic, reflecting mid-century Scandinavian modern ideals. The seats have been newly reupholstered in durable Savak wool fabric in a neutral tone, which complements the warm hues of the rosewood and adds a textured tactile quality.

Niels O. Møller was a renowned Danish designer celebrated for his focus on craftsmanship, organic forms, and timeless appeal. His collaboration with J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik, a workshop known for its meticulous attention to detail and handcrafted production since 1944, resulted in furniture pieces that exemplify the highest standards of Danish manufacturing.

Each chair measures 49 cm in width, 50 cm in depth, and 79 cm in height, with a seat height of 44 cm (19.3 x 19.7 x 31.1 inches, seat height 17.3 inches). The set is in excellent condition, with well-preserved rosewood frames and freshly restored upholstery.
