Hans-Agne Jakobsson wall lamp
This is a rare wall lamp model V-258, also known as Estrella, designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden, during the 1960s. The lamp is constructed with a polished brass backplate and frame, from which hang multiple rows of double-convex clear glass elements. These glass pieces are arranged in vertical strands, creating a shimmering curtain-like surface that catches and refracts the light.
When lit, the lamp produces a striking play of light and shadow, characteristic of Jakobsson’s work, which often sought to diffuse and soften light in elegant and atmospheric ways. The brass retains its warm golden tone, complemented by the subtle transparency of the glass elements. The fixture combines Scandinavian mid-century simplicity with the glamorous touch of Hollywood Regency style, making it both functional and highly decorative.
The lamp is in good vintage condition with minor signs of wear consistent with age. One glass element is broken, but the overall composition remains intact and visually balanced. The original manufacturer’s label is present on the back, confirming authenticity.
The dimensions are 30 cm wide, 20 cm deep, and 50 cm high, corresponding to approximately 11.8 x 7.9 x 19.7 inches. This model is a rare and collectible example of Hans-Agne Jakobsson’s lighting designs, showcasing his ability to merge refined materials with a sculptural, light-diffusing concept.
