Information

This rare set of six dining chairs, model 59, was designed by Helge Sibast in 1957 and produced by Sibast Møbelfabrik in Denmark. Each chair is crafted in rosewood, showcasing a rich and expressive grain, paired with original cognac leather backrest straps and newly reupholstered wool fabric seats. The design is defined by its sculptural, slightly curved back legs that extend into the backrest supports, creating an elegant and flowing silhouette.

The chairs feature two horizontal leather straps forming the backrest, attached with precise stitching and wrapped ends, providing both comfort and a distinctive visual character. The seats have been newly upholstered in a fine wool fabric, offering a soft contrast to the darker wood and aged leather. The frames retain their original finish, with only minor signs of use, and the leather displays a beautiful patina that reflects decades of careful use.

Helge Sibast was known for his refined approach to chair design, combining ergonomic comfort with a keen sense of proportion and detail. Model 59 exemplifies the craftsmanship and sculptural quality of mid-century Danish furniture, balancing lightness in form with structural strength. Sibast Møbelfabrik, active since the early 20th century, was celebrated for producing high-quality, handcrafted pieces that often pushed the boundaries of traditional Danish design.
